FORENSIC WORK

I am prepared to perform the following types of forensic audio work:

Enhancement and Noise Removal

This is the rendering intelligible of material recorded in a noisy environment. The noise may be electronic, as in the case of telephone recordings, or may be the background noise inherent in a recording made in the field.
I prefer that the original material be on standard audio cassette, microcassette, or VHS tape, but other media may be considered.
In the case of enhancement work, you will receive in return your original recording and one copy, on audio cassette, of the enhanced product. Transcripts and additional copies can be provided for an additional charge.

Examination and Authentication

Usually, an examination of recorded material will be to determine authenticity, i.e., looking for erasures, edits or other alterations to the original recording. Examinations may also be conducted to determine the nature of background noise in a field recording, in an attempt to ascertain the location of the recording.
As in the case of enhancement work, I prefer that the original material be on standard audio cassette, microcassette, or VHS tape, but other media may be considered.
Your product in this instance will consist of a written report, describing my findings. Your original recording will, of course, be returned to you.

Fees:

    (in $CDN)
For both enhancement and examination, the fee will be $80 per hour, with a four hour minimum.
Consultations will be at the rate of $80 per hour, with a four hour minimum plus any travel time.
Testimony will be given at the rate of $720 per day, with no half-day rate.
All expenses incurred will be added to the fee. If travel is required beyond eastern Ontario, this will include airfare, overnight accomodation and meals.
